Tying Up Loose Ends in San Francisco then onto Santa Cruz

This morning we woke up and went to breakfast at the hotel. We packed the car and headed off to San Francisco Ferry Terminal Marketplace. We had been here two years ago on our last trip and wanted to get the amazing sourdough bread and cheese that we had gotten before. We arrived at the market and picked up the bread, cheese, peaches and iced tea for a picnic lunch later on.

There were a few places we did not get to hit when we were in San Francisco last time so we decided to go to them today. First was Coit Tower where we took the elevator up the 210 feet. This tower was a gift from a San Franciscan who loved the city. We were able to overlook the beautiful city and see the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz, and Lombard Street. We were lucky that the morning fog was light enough for us to see everything.

We then decided to stop into Ghirardelli Square just to see the famous site. It was very nice and had time permitted we would have stayed longer to explore. We then went to Marina Park which overlooked the Golden Gate Bridge to eat lunch. We had a picnic with the bay and bridge looking picturesque in the background. It was beautiful out with the warm sun, people biking, and walking dogs.

After a satisfying lunch, we started down the California coast towards Jacqueline's Uncle Eddy and Aunt Trish's house in Santa Cruz. At first the fog was too thick to see off the coast but it soon burned off and the spectacular views of the ocean were unveiled.

We arrived in Santa Cruz two hours later and settled in. The rest of the evening was so nice talking and catching up with Uncle Eddy and Aunt Trish. We talked about everything from urban planning to politics to every worldly problem out there. Uncle Eddy summed up our day perfectly... Woke up, explored San Francisco, drove to Santa Cruz, solved the worlds problems. All in all a pretty good day. Tomorrow morning we are off to San Jose for Jacqueline's Amtrak physical and drug test then back to Santa Cruz. Until then good night!

PS. Here is the Pigeon Point Lighthouse for Michael's mom!
